Knowle & Dorridge C.C. was formed in 1896 and is one of the
foremost clubs in the Midlands. Its history and connections with
Warwickshire CCC can be seen by following the link to the Knowle and Dorridge CC Website but at present, it runs 4 teams on Saturdays and 2 teams on
Sundays and has one of the strongest Junior sections in the area.
The 1st and 2nd XI’s play in their respective premier divisions of
the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League – one of the
strongest Leagues in the country – whilst the 3rd and 4th XI team’s play
in Division 2 in the Warwickshire
Cricket League against other club 1st and 2nd teams.
On Sundays the 1st and 2nd XI’s play in the Warwickshire Sunday League.
In 2005 the amalgamation of two clubs – Knowle & Dorridge CC and
Arden Forest CC was completed to enable the club to utilise more fully
the facilities at its second ground at Lugtrout Lane.
The thriving Junior section has a full programme during the season
and there is activity for at least one of the age groups on every night
of the week. At the moment we are proud to claim that one of our junior
members represented England Under 15’s in 2004! For further details of a
full programme of practice nights and matches, see the JUNIORS page.
The Club Colours are Green and Gold and the club emblem is the Bear and Ragged Staff.
The club is situated between the ‘villages’ of Knowle and Dorridge on
Station Road, Dorridge, Solihull, West Midlands, and the second ground
is situated on Lugtrout Lane, Solihull.
Apart from its playing strength and cricket tradition, Knowle and
Dorridge CC boasts a strong social membership. The Club is open every
evening of the year (except Christmas Day!) and on Saturday and Sunday
afternoons – throughout the winter as well as the summer, and anyone who
visits will be ensured of a warm and friendly welcome.
